1996: R. A. T. Year

Sometimes people ask, "So what's with all this stuff about rats?" There is a great deal still to explore regarding the rat archetype and symbology, but for the present, here is a somewhat pedestrian explication of the rat legacy traversed by this one in the journey joined in the company of this human overcoat.

Radcliffe, D (1997):Ratical.org. [Internet] http://www.ratical.org/ratical/index.html
                            [Accessed Dec 2007]

1996 R.a.t. man scurried along the calendar
By the end of his year
He fell to the floor ~ fell for a store
Of scrap nibbles, he munched
For many years
And lived inside the pockets
In amongst creased
Invalidated empty
Receipts too travel.

R.a.t. man ran out of time
In the morning,
And in line with
A train he ran
To works
Biscuit scrap.
Thor?  Peanuts.

Inside his pocket
Began to unravel
Many ideas –on-
Useless gravel,
Then the rat changed occupations.

Like years he’d dig the roads
Da Da Da Da, Da Da Da.
Nibbling away at the road
Put transport on hold
Blocked the road
But the r.a.t. on wheels
Waved at the digger
The year of the r.a.t.
At every cycle
Gets bigger and
Bigger and bigger.

    Thanks EA

This link of the year of the Rar was very exciting for me (Being born a Rat an all). For years my higher power embleman was signified by a Porceline Two Rats in a Bag. But now I have a Mr Potatoe head with changable features and funny arms.
Thanks for the Gold. It is not often this happens and I am very Flattered.

    Best wishes,

    Me.

This piece is quite amusing. I have experimented with how the Dada goes and it seems to have many variations. I liked that you read the article too, brownie points for you. Happy New Year of the Rat!
