Yesterday I received a letter from your wife, we were all friends at one time.
I was about to toss it out, but something told me to hold on to it.
So I threw it on the table near the door, unopened.
Then last night I had a strange dream about you, you were with me instead of her.
You told me to stop being sad that you will be with me forever now.
You gave me a gentle kiss, I began to cry.
I felt a soft touch on my face that woke me up, I was actually crying.
I sat up a moment and then laid back down, I was asleep in no time.
When I started to dream again you were there.
You took me in your arms and told me you were sorry for hurting me.
You told me you loved me all this time, I told you I loved you too.
We have been separated for 24 years, you said you never stopped thinking of me.
I told you that I have never stopped loving you,I would have died for you if I had to.
People around me said I did, I withdrew myself from life.
A loud noise startled me awake, you were gone once again.
I checked around the house there was nothing to be found;I went back to bed sad and lonely.
Sleep once again came quickly to me, you were once again there.
You held something in your hand, an envelope.
"Why didn't you open this?" you asked me.
"I know what it says." I told you.
"I will join you soon for eternity".
When morning came they found me with the letter in my hand.
There was a smile upon my face.
The result of my death was that of a broken heart.
There was no evidence of foul play or drugs in my system.
The letter from your wife was to inform me you had passed away.
My dreams last night were not just dreams, they were you asking me to join you and I did.
I told you long ago I would die for you.

wow i think there are some tears in my eyes for this one . that was so sad . reminds me of a poem i once read about red roses. so very sad indeed but they still found each other in the end. but i wounder what caused the split. maybe there could be a before poem. another piece wrote to respond with this. thanks for sharing!
