When you and I were you and me
And we couldn't let go.
I wanted to know why you said
You didn't love me anymore.
And that next year, when I was still in love
That other girl broke your heart.
You were hurt, and I was still in love.
You know how it is to break your heart
But you didn't think about mine then.
You know how it is to want a love
You can never ever get.
So even though you'll have my heart
Forever and a day.
I know that we couldn't be us.
Ever anyway.

I like this poem very much. I can connect with that situation pretty well. I noticed that you didn't keep the rhythm very well near the middle, but I liked it because of that. It still reads well, and it looks like you said what you wanted to. Kudos for courage.
