Men of the Cloth

Men of the Cloth

The cloth it rots, the cloth it frays, unravels, tangles; fades.
Promise Heaven.  Threats of Hell.  Into the stream he wades.
"Save you.  Save you."  Save yourself you baby raping scum.
All you want is cash and power.  Brother, I'm not dumb.
Every fool of God will yell out loudly his brand's best;
Fall apart like rot they are when they're put to the test.
None are better in this game.  I tell you all are worst.
Anyone who says he's blessed assuredly is cursed.
Robertson and Billy Graham, freaky Freddy Phelps
Tell you they are lambs of God.  They're filthy Devil's whelps.

wow this is really good, it seemed like a rather more peaceful poem at first and then "Save yourself you baby raping scum" just jerked you out of that thought instantly. It was quite a shock, I was expecting something quite different, this is good, it emphasises your point and makes the piece memorable. I like the form of this, the layout on the page, it looks interesting and reads well also. Good Luck in the contest!

Oh Yeah... lets nail all those phony lambs to the
    cross and then have a blasphemer's bar-b-que ...
I'll bring the drinks. I don't mind religion as long
as it doesn't hurt anyone, but I don't see that happening
to often. I wonder what God thinks of this unholy mess?
Good work here Larry! read them all the riot act!!!!

      Exactly.

A healthy dose of religion is fine, but as soon as someone stands up and declares himself a religious leader or yells, "My god's better than your god."(Apologies to Kennel Ration.), he's more poop than Pope in my mind.

      Grin on.

It seems to me that most of the evil done in this world is in the name of goodness.

Words are words, can be misused
Some folks are, for sure, confused
But I would not be amused
        God exists in Natural clues

Pantheism -- Looking at the organization of what reality we experience, I can't deny Intelligent Design. The "arrow of time" suggests purpose. What you complain about here are petty differences (denominations) dreamed up by individuals of relatively limited understanding. Pat Robertson is a greedy bastard; Billy Graham is honest and sincere.

But they all smell the same to me.

There is no doubt that a religious organisation can accomplish good, be it the Holiness Movement church on the corner, The Salvation Army, The Dalai Lama or The Taliban.

If by intelligent design you mean predestination, I find it the most horrifying thing of all, making everything futile. I sometimes weep when I think of this.
