Red ink reminders play plague to the day:
Dreams die; we cry for soul’s pain lingering;
fall upon reclusion’s sword wrought of clay,
fearing, longing, fading, thin-iced hoping.
Would a merchant sacrifice his vessel;
forsake tomorrow for today’s pennies?
Sideline standing, commanding dream’s castle
crumble beneath broken pride-sake-pities.
Intended! Greater than mistake-etched pasts!
A pocket full of time lent, meant, spent well;
who will mourn the mourners as tears outlast?
Dusty bones only, can future foretell.
Quiet are the angels when sinners fall.
Thunder rejoicing as people stand tall.
Author notes
Prompt:
"No more be grieved at that which thou hast done:
Roses have thorns, and silver fountains mud.
Clouds and eclipses stain both moon and sun,
And loathsome canker lives in sweetest bud."
by William Shakespeare, taken from Sonnet # 35
