can not see past the fruit in me.
Given at Christmas by older folks,
some date back to nineteenth century.
Seen families come and families go,
they keep passing me all around.
From aunt Martha to uncle Joe,
now to a new home I am bound.
I am the gift that keeps on giving,
as I get passed from here to there.
Doc my life is not worth living,
I don't fit in anywhere.
My brother got fed to the birds,
when he was only eleven.
Mom and dad half eaten I heard,
they all went to fruitcake heaven.
Now every christmas there I lay,
beneath the green tree forgotten.
Next year they will give me away
hey doc I am feeling rotten.
I really don't mean to grip,
but I can not go on like this.
I am so stale my fruit ain't ripe,
no one wants me this Christmas.
Now I am growing old with mold
it is really spreading fast,
Friends say you can help I'm told,
this Christmas has to be my last!!

I have never seen a moldy fruitcake...
They last forever, I think. I bet fruitcake was found in the pyramids. I bet it was found in the grave with Lucy, the Ape woman in Africa.
Hey, I love fruitcake, so this poor fruitcake should find its way to my house.
Your poem is splendidly darling!

Hahahaha
Hahaha! Oh my!
Mom,
I LOVE this! It is sooo cute and hilarious.
You crack my up!
It really stricks my funny bone, because last year
my grandma made fruit cake
(I thought she lost her marbles)
and started giving them away to people.
She was like, "Oh my gosh, they're soooo good"
and I'm thinking, "Oh heck no! They're disgusting!"
hahaha, But anyways. I remember she gave one to one of my Aunt's,
and my aunt gave it away! Hahah :))
Love you, this is Fabulous! :D just like you!

I love this. I got this cartoon in an email because people know I am one of those who LOVES fruitcaks. A guy I used to work with also loved it and we get mounds of it at work for Christmas, he and I would slice it up and slather it with margerine and put it in the micro and eat it much to the dismay of everyone else. Great rhyme, fun poem.

Haha, very funny. This was such a great right, light-hearted, and exceedingly wonderful. You've a knack for placing yourself in a fruitcakes shoes. It's true, I also have a fruitcake, still in its package, never been eaten. I think I've had it for three years now, no telling how long it was at the previous owner's!!
Thanks for sharing, it was enjoyable.

This is the funniest thing - fruitcake
everyonce in a while you do run across a good fruitcake
The military even packes the in their(MRE) I think that is what they are called. I knew this guy he was so hungry he ripped open a oack thinking it was a meet pack grabed two slices of bread threw on the mayo ploped the pad on and began to chew. Looking down at what he was eating was a sight. ran back afount the box and it said fruitcake. He had eaten over half of the sandwich--- now that is hungry...That will teach him for not praying befor you eat....mac
