A Love Losing Leaves

  Will you taste like winter?
          Or fall?

All of this cold time I have waited
    Holding my breath
            in my hands.

Maybe I will stretch my arms
                          around you
                        and
lay my love over your face

      So that your eyes
              will only see how close
            yet deep

          the darkness of it is.

  Yes,
          you will taste

                          like winter.

Author notes

Love is falling out of my mouth...

and...

for some reason all the trees on my street still have their leaves...but they dont whisper from the wind like they used to...?

I've never thought of seasons having tastes. Felt it here, though.

    if i could...

i would stand with palms outstretched, ready to catch the love against my fingertips as it slips slowly off of your tongue. then i would return it to your lonely heart, and like a puzzle... complete you.

    Wow.

I really, really liked this. It's so simplistic and dreamy, but at the same time, you can feel the cold and the love all at once. It's got a little bit of underlying sadness to it, too, but that might just be me reading into it too much, or something...

Anyways, it actually reminded me a little bit of Sappho's poetry; the style is similar, but with a more modern twist and pattern. I love Sappho, so that's a good thing, trust me.

    Great job.

Most of the trees around here have lost all but a few of their leaves littering the ground.
I wonder what winter would taste like? cold and refreshing or bitter? Wonderful write as usual

There aren't enough words in any language that can describe how much into your poetry I am.

And that, my dear, is very very rare.

    "Yes,
    you will taste

    like winter."

The format is amazing but I love how this just pulls you in and out of the process of the writer's thinking. Almost like you're weaving the reader into the actual thoughts and feelings. Its powerful.

Oh this beautiful. I love the certainty of the tone and the images created in my mind. Wonderfully done.
