What Would They Bring?

What gifts would wisemen bring today,
to newborn baby born in the hay?
As the three welcome God's only child,
with peace on earth and mercy mild.

As they venture across desert sand,
what kind of gifts would be held in hand?
In this day and age what would be best,
as wisemen journey on midnight quest?

So many things more precious then gold,
to replace those gifts from days of old.
Brought Mary gold, frankincense, myrrh
the three kneeled down in front of her.

To bring gifts deserving of a king,
today what gifts would wisemen bring?
So very special these gifts must be,
chosen with love for the son of Thee.

Today the world and the human race,
with technology explores outer space.
The star of Bethlehem still shines bright,
leading world travelers through the night.

This is a very good peace of work! I wonder what they would bring also? There is nothing on this earth that I could think of to present to Christ if he were born in this time so you have left me thinking which is a good thing. He is the "King of King" and the "Lord of Lords"! My heart declares it, and let us remember why we celebrate his birth! Amen. Bless you sister.

    Lovely

This is so lovely Sandy, I just had to come read this when I read the title. It is good to be about AP this season. The holiday can produce some lovely work.

I wonder too ..what they would bring. There are so many things in this world that are different from then indeed.

Sadly, I bet there are some who do not even realize the Star of Bethlehem shines.

A perfect poem for the season.

You know how much I love your poems and this is just another to add to a growing list. I love this title and it makes one contemplate just what should be the perfect gift to the Christ child. I think that if he could talk to the human race and tell them what he would want it would be: peace and love between all mankind, an end to hatred as well as wars, also an end to the greed and power struggles between all mankind. Accept each and every individual as all belonging to humanity and to live and let live in His grace. I loved this.

This is a poem of lovelyness

For today, might it be peace in the hearts of everyone, learn to forgive, all and what has been done, learn to love - love is something we need to share around the world and then some.

    To Him...

...Who is and will always be the Perfect King, Priest and Sacrifice, the wisemen would still bring what was brought before, according to holy writ. He changes not, for He needs not, even while our pursuits and values change. May we all come to enjoy the stability that truth brings.

I'm never disappointed when I come to read your latest. In fact, I'm only all the more impressed at the new echelon you've attained. Fabulous, young lady, simply fabulous.
