A bond, really, is what it is
A lifelong bond
The ability to speak after a lengthy time apart
As if company was parted only yesterday
This, in essence, is what brotherhood is
Two friends advising and passing time in jovial spirits.
It is not blood or parentage that makes men brothers
Respect and friendship is.

Author notes
I guess this would fall under option 1. I don't have an AP brother yet. I'm 23 years old and am deployed to New Mexico with the National Guard looking for illegal Mexicans and drug smugglers. I'm married 2 years now with a dautghter, also 2, and a son on the way in January.

Refreshing & Uncomplicated
I like the way your poem is simple & yet profound! It uses a little to say a lot. & the biggest plus is that it's true.
Thank you for sharing & good luck!
