Oblivion

I don't want to know
What it means
The obscene
Screams
Like a fiend
Taking my dreams
And it kills me
Relentlessly
Over and over
The twisted
Knife jaded
By my
Memories
Dwelling on the
Unseen
And I
Can't figure out
What it means
Though it seems
In the mystery
Of it all
When golden threads fall
And break
When the Reaper takes
And your blind to his
Coming, going
Too fast
How long will it
Last?
'Till I crash
My head
Into oblivion
With living dead

This was a very interesting piece you wrote. Clever, but confusing. Every other time I read it, it has something to do with the prompt, and the other times I think it doesn't. It seems to me like a person who is dwelling in the afterlife and wants to leave, but in no time will join the living dead in the after life, or it could just be a person dwelling on what exists in the afterlife. So interesting, but confusing. Either way, good luck in the contest!

    Sincerely,

Okay... so tell me if I'm wrong. I'm not exactly sure, but I'm pretty sure that this poem has nothing to do with exactly Escaping the afterlife, but rather thoughts on the afterlife. Am I correct? I guess this poem is just rather confusing to read. Please let me know if I am right on this (reply to this comment please rather than message). But thank you very much for entering my contest, and I look forward to hearing from you!!

      Alex,

Please forgive me for not answering sooner. I did not realize there were comments on this poem. The poem is about recurring thoughts and/or dreams that refuse to die and become torturous and consuming though they always feel just out of reach adding to the maddess leading one to believe that the only way to remedy the situation is death, but even that leaves destiny unfinished.
