Holiday spirit

the Christmas tree
gleaming brightly
so we silently
watch attentively

No presents there
It's all laid bare
No money nowhere
Yet we don't care

family's quiet embrace
dresses of faded lace
gratefully poor in disgrace
in this richest of space

Author notes

Well, I like rhyme, and I like Christmas. I only hope this stands up to what the contest calls for.

A very good poem, it's nice to see so many poets rhyme.
