Well don't you call me sheltered
When all you've done is stayed
I've had much more experience
It's you who gets afraid

You've never moved around like me
You've always known the same
Never had to leave your friends
Or play a different game

My parents aren't divorced or split
But Dad was still away a lot
In danger zones in god knows where
So very close to being shot

And back when I was in year five
My mum was basically alone
You've always had two parents there
They're never on their own

I've had to change to stay the same
You'll never understand quite how
The people that I loved and left
I still think about now

Go on laugh, it's just a country
But it was my happy time
Take the piss when I go on
But that place, it was mine

It tore my heart to leave back then
But "sheltered as I am"
Guess it didn't mean a thing
But you don't give a damn

And no, I've never smoked a joint
Or got drunk in excess
It's just because I'm "sheltered" right?
Well I spose you'd know best

So screw you when you call me that
I really cannot stand it
I'm not some stupid naive child
