prisoner

this winter has hardly even begun,
yet it feels colder
and longer
than all other years past and put together.

Without any heater,
without any color,

this Christmas will be bleak

until permission arrives, like a lifeboat
for one thousand drowning POWs.

The good news is this is one heck of a poem
the bad news is it does not go well with the prompt
for this contest That sucks because this is a good poem

This is so sad, and I can relate all too well. The ending fits it perfectly, and wraps everything up nicely. Fourteen views and one comment?! I don't get people, these days
    Hope you're doing okay
