but is it really?
We began to walk this path,
hand in hand,
and side by side,
on a journey of exploration
Not knowing where the path would lead,
and not caring,
because we knew we were
facing it together...
As friends, we knew
we’d face the challenges
without wavering
We knew we’d look after each other,
and we’d keep the other safe
and free from strife
Along the way our friendship changed
It grew;
It blossomed;
It became more that we’d anticipated;
We fell in love...
It’s fitting that on this day
we should find the two of us like this
Together,
as we’ve always been
Today, I marry you,
my best friend...
Our journey now continues
The path before us is clear and wide,
and on it we shall walk the miles together
Together as friends,
as a couple,
as lifelong partners
bound forever by our love
The Bible tells us this:
"Love believes all things,
Hopes for all things,
Endures all things...
Love never fails"

This was a poem written for my son's wedding, June 8th, 2007. I had asked for Bedroom Eyes to help me gather my thoughts and to arrange my feelings as I was overcome with much emotion.
My sincere thanks goes out to him for this turned out beautifully and my son and his wife were very much touched Thank you, darlin'

Lovely
Beautiful vows, so sweet when love can flower this way. What a lovely gift you crafted for you son and his bride. I especially was touched by: "Together, / as we’ve always been / Today, I marry you, / my best friend..."
Thank you for this heart-warming entry (even though with the way I'm feeling right now it made me cry with feelings of deprivation).

Congratulations on earning Honorable Mention!

My husband and I were friends long before we even thought about being lovers or companions. We dated almost two years before we wed. Somehow, I always knew it would be him that would be my life long partner. It is easy to see that this poem would touch the young couple. Very Beautiful!
Kudos to Bedroom Eyes!
Much LOVE Always ♥

THIS IS SO SWEET!!!
What a lovely way to express how two come together in spirit and also of the heart.

This is a very very beautiful ballad, danced by two on parchments of love. So much warmth, emotion, and movement laced within fibers of sincerity. It is a reflection of what we here at AP have always known. And that is that your soul is a flame lighting pathways, when we each need guidance from an earth visiting angel... like you. Thank you for sharing

-
It's so simple and elegant. Excellent title. And thank you for your comment-- I'm in love with ap already.

Well Done
I like it - the last verse taken from God's Word is the icing on the cake - did you read it at the wedding? I went to a weding this August where the bride and the groom read poems - he is on Allpoetry too - Rudolf is his poets name - the poem "Wedding Vows" is posted - I entered my poem "Two Poles" in your contest but I should have entered my poem "Friends" instead - it goes along with this beautiful poem you have written for your son's wedding - Bless God - Joe

i think that is the best way for love to blossom, from friends and gradually to lovers. It's an amazing thing to fall in love with your best friends....beautiful poem, simply beautiful.

-
This is a beautiful write. I think as long as people have each other to go through the journey of love together, they will be just fine. This write was very uplifting. Just the kind of poem I needed to read today. Thanks for posting this and good luck in the contests.
-
I believe this poem has touched more personally just because I'm a girl in love. Thank you for bringing me this happy emotion. It gives me hope. Thank you for joining!
May we all be green. -
This is beautiful! And I'm glad to hear it's working out. I am always fascinated by people's meeting/love stories. For my parents it was that fun, play-fighting, head-butting, 4 months 'casual dating,' 4 years dating for real kind of love, which culminated in a very happy successful marriage now 21 years strong. For a close friend it was love-at-first meeting. After the woman left the party the man said to his best friend: "I think I just met the woman I'm going to marry." They have been together 6 years and just had a baby. Anyway, I just really liked the thought/sentiment behind this poem, and reading your authors comment makes it that much cooler. Great job and good luck in the contest!

Excellent
Very touching and well done. Another of your wow! Poems.

-
To choose a piece to read to them would have been special on its own, but to write them an original piece of your own work is priceless. May the young couple be able to look back when things are tough and remember why it all began . . .

-
WOW... this poem is something very very special. Filed with a warmth second to none. From start to finish this poem just feels like a masterpiece. You really did a great job writting it and I am sure Your son and daughter in law smile with such pride knowing this was written for them.

Great writting

-
I believe the BiBle is right,
"Love believes all things,
Hopes for all things,
Endures all things...
Love never fails"
This is the most beautiful piece I have
read in a mighty long time.
The words were written for a perfect
couple for a perfect day.
I can clearly see why they were so touched.
"Love is, above all else, the gift of oneself."
This is a very true quote.
You have done with the help Bedrrom eyes,
an excellent job.
Loveandblessings2u & yours always
