Change Our Thoughts

Our thoughts bring our world to life,
emotions create our path,
Negatives and positives,
thoughts we can't get back.

Hurt and pain angers built,
rage is a furious wind.
Tornados, hurricanes and such,
penance for our sin.

Eliminations can be made,
to wipe away our debts.
Forgiveness, love and tolerance,
penance we must accept.

Surround our world with kindness
fill our thoughts with love,
brings a gentle warming breeze,
sent straight from God above.

Very nice poem. Speaks so much to the importance of 'catching' ourselves...before we soak in the pit of regret...I liked this a lot. This was one of those important 'pricks' to the mind/soul/heart...I'm glad you posted this.

This is just such a warm feel good poem. Makes me feel all fuzzy inside..especially the last stanza.

    Great poem. Thanks for entering
  • Awesome!

I love this! The poem is great and the message is really wonderful, too!

  • I like the idea and most of the execution of this piece. However I ponder over your choice of Eliminations in line 9. It seems to be a little too basic (shades of bodily functions) and tautological (with "wipe away" in the next line) I would have chosen Alteration perhaps. BUT that's what makes reading other peoples work fun it sparks ideas and makes you think about your own way of writing. So thanks for sharing this.

I like the comparison of emotions to weather - kindness is soft and warm like a divine breeze. Congratulations for HM.

  • Lovely theme

I love the idea of a gentle warming breeze sent from above! It's true, humankind is so marred is gets so caught up in its own pain that it really does require help from above! Best of luck in the contest, but you need to add "Thank you, maa." into your notes!

"If we surround our world with kindness
    fill our thoughts with love,
it will bring forth a gentle warming breeze
sent straight from God above"...I think this part is my favorite. Great lines here though. Great message too. Repentance is older than anyone alive; I wonder how much we take from it though (and I mean ME first). Good job with this poetess.

I believe the wisdom of love to be of the highest wisdom, a wisdom that has been replaced with force, its gentleness replaced with strength, its forgivness replaced with punishment... its selfless nature of altruism replaced with selfish desire. The cycles of suffering keep on turning and will continue to turn aslong as we react to the cause. This is a great piece of poetry sharing lots of depth in the meaningful content. You are right; if we replace desire with altruism we could wipe out our debts to karma in a generation... put a stop to the cycle of suffering we all seem to have fallen victim too. You have expressed so much that needs to be shared here. Thank-you for taking the time to share your insights depth and understanding with us

    • Thank you for reading and soooo thank you for understanding. you do amaze me in a wonderful way. God bless

I'm feeling kind of bad after reading this poem because I am remembering taking 600 unwrapped pennies to the library to pay my $6.00 fine. That was mean of me, I think. Still, pennies are lovely. Maybe I will repent. I love your poem because it is inspirational.

    Beautiful

It is a very well stated poem, so many things wrong
with our world that only us can change that by changing
our behaviour, loving more and hoping for a better
    world.

    I love this poem

this is really true and i can understand it completely. There is so much in this world that can hurt us and make us do the things we can't change but if we somehow change the world it would be such a better place. this is a very great right, i think it will inspire people to look at themselves and see how they can change. very good.

Thinking thoughts are processes occurring inside the brain without any further consequence if the power and means to have those thought be put to action, is absent, is a mis conception. An infinite number of possible futures flows into one fixed past because of the conditioned way our brains work. In this sense we shape the concept of time without even being aware of what it actually is. If we continue to believe in the limited power of our thoughts then it will remain limited. But we have exactly as much power as we truly believe. An interesting reference to it is expressed in a video that is available on YouTube that is called: 'What the bleep do we know' Some people may find that interesting. Thank you for creating and sharing. Take care,

    U

    Powerful truth excellent

This write this composure of thoughts delivers a clear message on what you sow is what you reap. Also I see as a man or mind thinketh so is he that is the life and the condition of life. I see atonement as medicine and healing by just changeing our thoughts the root of all things. Thank you for sharing excellent write.

A wonderful poem, and written so smooth. A good back up for the life we should lead as a child of God. First stanza really sets the tone for the entire poem, yet the last stanza sure finishes it perfectly.

Excellent,Mam. Thoughts play a vital role in Life, which is clearly portrayed in this poem. The last stanza of the poem is very interesting, which concludes to show love instead of anger, forgiveness instead of revenge. This reminds me the proverb," To err is Human;to forgive is divine." Through Love everyone can expose the inner divine easily. According to me, the title of the poem can be "Change the Thoughts"
