How I long for old-fashioned Christmases,
With real coal burning on the fire
And the sound of children singing,
In a beautiful Christmas choir.
How I long for old-fashioned Christmases,
When we were happy just to give...
To remind us of his birth
And how we all should live.
How I long for old-fashioned Christmases,
Roasting chestnuts in traditional style;
As we watched the children playing,
With simple toys that brought a smile.
How I long for old-fashioned Christmases,
With mince pies and a glass of sherry.
We didn't need to get blind drunk,
Just happy and slightly merry!
