what are we
but little whims,
sad resolve,
and simple sins.
what are we
that we cannot take
the small mistakes
that our hearts make.
what are we
that we are this way
and why is it
that we must stay
what we are.

I agree with IT Refugee. For being so simple, this poem speaks a lot. I like the subject, and the ending makes the reader go "hmmm. I agree with that." That is a great question that beats in our hearts, and you did a good job putting it into words.

I like this a lot. Simply put, yet all the more powerful for being so. I also like the ending thought, that poses the age old question. Why can't we change who we are?

AWESOME
I love it i agree so much what we are is what we stay if we don't decide to change it Such a dark sweet beautiful poem thx for posting

Thought provoking and enjoyable too. A little more punctuation might make it a smoother read, but other than that, I can't think of any way it can be improved. I especially like the last bit.

First let me ask you to please not 5 star my comment, or comment me back at all at this time. I am really trying not to find out who anyone is.
"what are we
that we are this way
and why is it
that we must stay
what we are".
I think that is so sad.
I think that in every life we are the best
of what we are meant to be. But that's just me.
Thanks for entering my contest and good luck to you in the contest.
