One of those days (Sonnet)

Missing image
"Poetry is what one writes when all else has failed, and a body would be too hard to hide." Griswold

We all have had one of those crappy days,
your throbbing head is spinning all around;
you would like to stick it into the ground,
nothing goes right, and you're in your own way.

The boss on your back for nothing it seems,
flat tire on the car, no jack to be found.
Call from the spouse, phone doesn't make a sound,
all that you do just elicits a scream.

Get home to relax, pop open a beer,
the fridge has quit working, it's really warm;
that sounds about right , it's so true to form,
your thought's crystallize, becoming quite clear.

Sit and write a poem, let all of it out,
you'll feel so much better, without a doubt.

Love you Tory.

    This one is from before my time on AP. What goodies I've missed! I reckon you lassooed that gold trophy with that great quote, Scott. But you made it legally yours with this eloquent little vent in rhyme. Who cares if it has a few scuffmarks you wouldn't find in a high-class sonnet? You're evoking a very scuffmarked day. You have to reflect that. What's truly high class is any poetic persona who can sublimate all the downers by focusing on poetry. Good stuff!

    The line "and your in your own way" confused me. Would "and you're in your own way" make sense? Sorryyyy I'm just...confused. haha.

    Congratulations on the Gold

    I rather like this Sonnets are complicated forms and I marvel at anyones attempt at them, and this is why - because they can come out in different ways and this makes me think of a line in a movie I love: "Your life is like a country song, if you had a dog it would have been run over by now" - the different things that can go wrong that do are very well expressed in this

    Well done mate
    Congratulations on the Spotlight

    Not persuaded.

    Your overall meaning is admirably clear. But you called it a sonnet, and in my book sonnets have regular scansion, usually in the form of IPs, while your sonnet is extensively but irregularly dactylic, and the last three words are weak and used for the rhyme only. in L4 you did mean "you're", didn't you? And there should be no apostrophe on "thoughts". Sorry.
