Soul

"Every poem is a piece of the soul who wrote it."

A poem is a writer's soul
their emotions
the frustrations in life
Look and you will find
A piece of me in each
Poem I've ever penned

My poem is the river of
crimson emotion
My poem is a dark room
a lost lover
My poem is a bright day
a jubilant ovation

My poem is a cry
the vast ocean of tears
My poem is livid
destruction and pain
My poem is many shades of color
every mask I wear

My poem is me

a poem's a poem in the mind, it hits paper dancing with words. artistic elegance, or madness. a good poem.

I like the parallelism in the last couple stanzas. It's a good use of rhetoric. Keep up the great writes, friend. You are becoming a stronger write each time I read your works.

I do feel with some of my poems I give up a piece of my soul. I do appreciate the emotion here.

Per the author notes...You touched on one of my pet peeves.. I don't care for the practice of capitalizing the first letter in each line, I think it detracts and distracts.

do you know how many poems i used to comment on every day with the same pet peeve? god it drives me batty, so i just quit commenting because people would either get mad or say whatever, some would take the advise though

Yeah I wasn't sure exactly how people would take that. Most people that comment like that and get mad when I don't.....Ack I guess I can't please everyone....
