was extra small size,
he couldn't keep up
with the extra large guys.
Clarence the dragon,
just couldn't wait!
"Hurry up momma!,
we're going to be late."
"Don't worry, Clarence,"
momma said with a grin.
"you have to be there,
before they begin."
Tonight was the night,
of the school's Christmas play,
Clarence had practiced,
most of the day.
His lines he recited,
till he knew them by heart,
he was proud to have
a special part.
The school was packed;
teachers and family,
Clarence peaked out,
and all he could see,
was row on row of
waiting smiles,
the crowd went on,
for miles and miles!
Clarence felt a knot,
form in his throat,
all of a sudden,
he started to choke.
At home, in the mirror,
he did just fine,
but now he couldn't
remember- one line!
"Oh no!" Clarence thought
as they got ready to go,
the teacher walked by,
"on with the show!"
Clarence relaxed,
and took a deep breath,
"I'm going out there,
and doing my best."
While most of the others,
forgot, here and there,
Clarence's part came
through, loud and clear;
"We three kings have
traveled far,
guided by a
shining star.
Of a savior,
we've been told,
so we bring you
gifts of gold.
Child of Mary,
born this night,
in a manger,
out of sight.
King of kings,
keeper of Earth,
we celebrate your
day of birth."
Clarence smiled,
then audibly sighed,
the whole auditorium,
laughed, till they cried.
Then the entire room,
stood up and cheered!
It wasn't a disaster,
as Clarence first feared.
After the play,
while eating a snack,
the bigger dragons,
slapped his back,
"Thanks!" "Good job."
most of them said;
patting Clarence,
on top of his head.
So, on the night,
of the big Christmas play,
Clarence the Dragon,
had saved the day!
Author notes
I have written about Clarence the Dragon, since high school. I love Dragons. The first stanza is more or
less from my other Clarence poem...just so you understand, he's a little guy. I write these poems for kids...so I try to add a moral or lesson...whatever..
anyway...hope you like it. I may edit a bit more..

Excellent, my friend. I may read more of these Clarence poems of yours. The rhyme was not exact, though. But I like to overlook things like that, owing to creative license. Again, excellent.
