When I see a guitar,
One that doesn't plug in,
I think of the slaves.
And how much they suffered.
The way they sang,
The way they lived.
It's a miracle
Just because they were here.
The guitar stands for freedom,
At least for me.
You can express your feelings,
And let them out.
The chair stands for bravery,
For when you sit down,
You are risking your life
Because anyone can take advantage.
They can stab you
Before you get a chance to stand,
Or they can just shoot you from behind,
And catch you off guard.
The railroad tracks,
They stand for passage.
You can get into one part of life,
And suddenly be going into another.
Simple as that,
My life flies by.
But in a certain way,
Everything stands for something.
But a guitar,
A chair,
And tracks,
They stand for the way I'd like to live.
One that doesn't plug in,
I think of the slaves.
And how much they suffered.
The way they sang,
The way they lived.
It's a miracle
Just because they were here.
The guitar stands for freedom,
At least for me.
You can express your feelings,
And let them out.
The chair stands for bravery,
For when you sit down,
You are risking your life
Because anyone can take advantage.
They can stab you
Before you get a chance to stand,
Or they can just shoot you from behind,
And catch you off guard.
The railroad tracks,
They stand for passage.
You can get into one part of life,
And suddenly be going into another.
Simple as that,
My life flies by.
But in a certain way,
Everything stands for something.
But a guitar,
A chair,
And tracks,
They stand for the way I'd like to live.

The imagery in this poem is sick! Its beautiful not many people are able to portray things like this. You have incredible talent/gift from God. Keep using it. And the message that you gaveis probably one that many need to hear so they can start to appreciate the way we are able to live today.

I got a wonderful picture of a one piece travelling band telling his/her tale of life in song and I love it. Great imagery in your work. It also reminded me of a poem I wrote for song called "Ten Hoboes". If you get a chance check it out. May you continue your journey in peace and glory.

There is indeed imagery within the lines here, and I like the message your words carry with them

Thanks for this entry as well!
