Hardy: On Becoming a Poet

Others write them;
I just read them
And recite them:
Recite the poems that others write.

But my own I cannot fashion,
Though I keep trying
With a passion
To write a poem that's mine.

Will I ever quit this trying?
Trying, trying,
Failing sighing,
Trying a poet to become?

No, I'm sure I shall not quit it;
I'll keep trying
'Till I get it,
'Till a poet I become.

If I keep my mind upon it,
Perhaps some day I'll write a sonnet;
Then all the world at last will know it,
That I have become a poet.

Please tell me what you think

    light, whimsical, nice

    I really like this, Mr. P. It's light, whimsical and rings oh so true.

    How's everything in South Louisiana? As I recall you're in Lake Charles, correct?

    Oh..and a happy valentine's day to you.

      All is OK here in Lake Charles, but I'm getting out of town tomorrow to go to Virginia for a while to babysit with my two grandchildren 5 and 6. My wife and I will fly out of Lake Charles tomorros A.M. I am glad to be getting out of town for a while.

      Sincerely,
