A young preacher walked up to my door
with sparkling eyes
and blond hair like I’d never seen before
I welcomed in this guise
When at last he entered my house
he talked about divinity
but knew, deep down, he was a louse
who didn’t have virginity
So, I watched as he did stare
as I took off my shirt
oddly enough, he didn’t care
I felt so bad, I hurt
“Miss, don’t think that I’m cruel
if I don’t give such love
to a woman as beautiful as you,
but the good Lord above
asks that I remain tall and true,
forgive me, my sweet dove.”
So, all along it was true:
this handsome man, Dear Lord,
believes in you
and, now, I do too
