The sunlight dances between wings as blue as the sky
A brilliant display of colour, is the Brenton Blue butterfly
It is rare, it is unique, as its lifespan is short
Metamorphosis is one day and then its life will abort
Gods beautiful creature, flutters breathlessly in the air
Touching lightly on the Fynbos, its spirit without a care
It is strange that its birth is when the sun is shining bright
And life begins at dawn, and death at night
People come to seek this wondrous creature
Just to get a glimpse of the colour, its main feature
We as humans sometimes neglect Gods beautiful creations
We don't find the time to look for new sensations
Like the touch of a butterfly a precious gift of love
Sent to us with a message from our Creator from above.

A fine sharing in this contest
I wish you the very best! -
I have never heard of this particular butterfly, however, you have painted a picture of something extraordinarily beautiful. It is true, most people fail to find the time to observe creation in its wonderful glory... the feather-like touch of a butterfly is something wonderful to experience. Two years ago, I visited a butterfly visitor center not too far from where I live, it was well worth the visit, species were in abundance, they settled onto my hand which really surprised me. All in all, a fantastic visit.
Well done with this particular poem, thank you for sharing it with us.

Sorry, but this poem does not fit the contest criteria. Your rhyme is pedestrian and I am not looking for poems about butterflies, but the Butterfly Effect encapsulates the more technical notion of sensitive dependence on initial conditions in chaos theory, which theorises that a change in something seemingly innocuous, such as a flap of a butterfly's wings, may cause unexpected larger changes in the future.

Such a beautiful depiction of a most stunning and beautiful butterfly. A most pleasurable read... great imagery made this a wonderful poem
