Meeting Jesus

I met Jesus  as a toddler
I remember grandma and grandpa taking me to church
lots of singing and i learned to sit quietly
while the preacher did his sermon

At age five a preacher came knocking on our door
I answered and he sat down and talked to me.
Do you know Jesus? yes, I do.
Do you know that he can live in your heart?
No, how is that? so he proceeded to guide me through
accepting Gods son Jesus into my heart

He continued on by telling me
I can talk to God through prayer
and he used the 23rd psalm as a guide to prayer
I use the psalms even now to start my prayers at times

At age 13 my parents divorced
despite my prayers to keep our family together.
I became angry at God for not answering my prayer
the way I wanted.  I stayed this way for two years, until I realized
it wasn't God didn't answer my prayers. that my parents have wills
and did not listen to God.

In that two year period I started smoking,
at age 14 I got served in any bar
and I took full advantage of it.
Between the sex, drugs and alcahol,
I became a mess.  then one night I lay in bed crying and praying.
Asking God to please release me from everything
and to heal my spirit.

I woke the next morning feeling refreshed
FREE of drugs, sex and alcohol
God freed me
He welcomed me home
just like the prodigal son
I wallowed with the lowlife of mankind
and he welcomed me with a fresh new life
filled with forgiveness and mostly love.
