ABC Poem on Homework

After I came home from school,
Before I walked in the door,
Came a gust of wind.
Down went my books.
Everything I held.
Fell to the mercy of the wind.
Gust after gust, my papers flew away.
Holding onto my hat,
I chased after one sheet,
Jolting away from me with every step.
Keeping out of my reach.
Lunging, jumping, dodging.
Making sure I wouldn’t lose sight of it.
Never was I so worried
Over one sheet of paper.
Propelled across my lawn.
Quickly getting away.
Running, running, faster, faster.
Seconds from my grasp.
Taken from me so briskly.
Under the roof of my porch.
Very near to completion,
Was my homework.
Exhausted, I gave up
Yawned and sighed.
Zero points for me.
