Heart As Broken Bird - HM

It will not matter what is written on,
or stored within this cedar box
that will be hidden from sight,
that will grow wormy old
and bore holed,
when this captured thing is dead
and sings no more.

It will not matter that its feathers
lose its fluttering silver
where air parts the shafts
and gives it rise.

Nor, will it make matters worse
if all that is left is faint memory
of a once bright song
that broke heavy air
and was breathed in
like moth to light.

Though its swoop and dive
no longer carves draping blue,
nor lifts pink shroud of morning,
you will know it as night falls
and dawn is stippled with wings.

No, it will not matter, for still
in that black night pinned by strobing lights
and in exact center of sun that blinds you
so you can not see, there I am; a bird
longing to continue to love you
whether you wish it or not.

ty, pen friend...there are those we love who do not love us back..and that is ok because in the act of love are we holy.

Carol - you inspire me. when you talk the fur stands
on end. when your thought escape into the aether it is like a compression of rocks becoming woozy and drunk in a cool-down of lava - hisssss - liquidized.

ty, pen friend. I have been amiss on reading everyone's poetry..needed to breath in what I was going through before I breathed in anything extra.
