Summoning courage on a daily basis,
yet not complaining about how bad the pain is,
walking on red hot coals for well over a mile
Thats what true love means to me !
Giving up communication with none but your lover,
as they fail to connect with even their own mother,
knowing that cleaning up after them will never be a bother
Thats what true love means to me !
Fighting your family for the one person you adore,
refusing to believe bloods thicker than water,
allowing choice in the end to your only daughter
Thats what true love means to me !
Difference of opinion a shared sense of perception,
coming back together even after rejection,
to except each others foibles without hesitation
Thats what true love means to me !
The first breath of a new born fighting for life,
getting over the loss as it cuts like a knife,
being able to comfort each other with the strife
Thats what true love means to me !
Alone in ones thoughts as slowly pushed away,
by the one that you loved do you go or do you stay,
realising they would be happy which ever damned way
Thats what true love means to me !

Normally I'm not a huge fan of rhyme, but I thought that it worked brilliantly in this poem. I loved how the poem seemed to follow a story of the two lovers. The repetition worked fantastically too.

I found this poem to be a good read. Nicely structured, well written with poetic flare. The poem has a message and delivers it well. It has good word choice with rhyme and rhythm and moved me emotionally while instilling passion.
