Stay True

I fought for you,
For you to be free.
Little one as you grow,
Remember what I tell you.
When you're older,
I don't know what this nation will be.
I know you'll be there,
Maybe even leading it.
Don't let them control you,
Do what you know is best.
Stay true to who are.
Child, when things are at there hardest,
Look to God.
I may not know it all,
But I know this.
You have people who love you,
Who will stand by you through it all.
When you get out in the world, child,
Don't forget where you came from,
Because blood is thicker than anything.
