The sky goes on forever here...
What walls there are fail to block the fading light.
Photon shrapnel
Of that slow distant explosion
Cold at my back
what isn’t absorbed is splashed
across steel grey cement
an outline
in exaggerated caricature
Marionette dancing
What walls there are fail to block the fading light.
Photon shrapnel
Of that slow distant explosion
Cold at my back
what isn’t absorbed is splashed
across steel grey cement
an outline
in exaggerated caricature
Marionette dancing
Author notes
I grew up on the prairies, and the prompt "five o'clock shadow" reminded me of autumn evenings, walking home, and watching the shadows cast in front of me.
Bet you were expecting another poem about moustaches...

My home is anywhere there is sky. But the shadows are especially entrancing when the sky is wide, and unobstructed. Thank you for reading!

I can just see me in this scene. Walking down the road with the light cascading down around me as my shadow takes on a new life. I love the images that this inspires.
