Shining brightly through the mist
The light feels warm on my face.
The trees cast shadows on the ground, but the light shines on.
I push through the branches, through the leaves, through my fear, and I see -
We are just drops in an ocean,
Small, unnoticed, insignificant.
The grass is soft and I sit.
Closing my eyes, I absorb the light.
It fills me and I am not alone.
I am loved, needed, wanted.
I rise and move forward.
Who would see me if I was not here?
Would you see the space?
The candle flickers with the breeze, but does not give in.
The wax drips down.
The wick burns.
The wind cannot stop its flame.
The light will never fade.
Until it is time.
The forest of yesterday has passed,
Chopped and burnt.
The wick has gone now, and we are in darkness.
