Twilight

Pale skin, a contrast
the sun on a black sky
golden eyes, of love,
of desire of lust
-secrets
    hidden in
the beauty-

A kiss from cold lips
executing through
a heart that never beats
a deep breath
-didn’t
      have to
be taken-

My own personal twilight
the sun sets and rises,
but never do I sleep,
I wonder the night, thinking,
watching my true love [human]
-sleep
    before
          my eyes-

But I notice as my love breathes
gently their chest rises
mortality is their path
until they have changed, transformed,
but immortality is but prison
-without
      my true love’s
only kiss-

Author notes

Okay... I wrote this inspired by my new favorite books Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer. If you've read them you might understand this from Edward's perspective, if not then you can read them, or you can enjoy the poem for what it is. Meg

Please tell me what you think

The title got my attention right away. Best books in the world! Now for the poem, I liked the perspective you wrote it in and I really liked it overall
