I knew the moment I saw that test
My life was changed forever
Your hands would be so little
But still, they would cradle my whole world
A mother, my new role
My tears whelled up at the thought
I couldnt wait till the day I could
Hold you
And kiss you
Even though your father wasn't near
I knew that it would be enough
Just the two of us
And as the days came
You grew
I could almost feel your arms stretching
Pulling at my heart
But you pulled to hard young lady
And you melted away
The doctors came, dragging you away
I waited, holding my breath to hear yours
But there was silence
Not a sniffle, or cry
Not a giggle, or a sigh
Just silence
I wept at my loss
Because even though you were gone
My world was still cradled in your arms
My daughter, whom I didnt get but a glance
You wanted to be held to soon my child
And now you lay in God's embrace
I leave the hospital with empty arms
But a smile on my face
Arika, my daughter, my beautiful little girl
Even though I can't hold you tonight
You will be in my heart always
My life was changed forever
Your hands would be so little
But still, they would cradle my whole world
A mother, my new role
My tears whelled up at the thought
I couldnt wait till the day I could
Hold you
And kiss you
Even though your father wasn't near
I knew that it would be enough
Just the two of us
And as the days came

Pulling at my heart
But you pulled to hard young lady
And you melted away

Author notes
To Arika Michelle, my little girl! It has been a year since I lost you, but I have never forgotten!!! May you rest safely in God's hands, untill I can hold you in my own!
I chose option 2, but I kind of had to put my own twist on things!! It almost killed me to write this!!
