Rise Above This

 

Here’s a dedication to myself

For surely I deserve

A bit of gratitude and appreciation

To the value I am worth

 

I need to pat myself on the back

For what I have achieved

My life might be a struggle

But in me I trust and believe

 

At times I have no time to think

My son makes it hard

But I am a woman of the world

These tears leave random scars

 

Yet these scars represent

The dedication and the work

Though I don’t get this academic shit

I don’t believe it could get any worse

 

So I rise above this

All the work that knocks me aside

When no tutor will ever appreciate

Just how much I have tried

I am trying so hard to become a nurse....The thing is I am great at the pratical work, just not so good academically. In order to get over this I need to rise above it! The title "rise above this" just seemed apt.

    Oh katey! I've been doing a reorganization of my life, throwing out old clothes, junk and even friends! And I know where I've been and I know how far I've come, and I too, pat myself on the back! Everytime I go through these emotions, (wink), I feel your strength in your survival, and it helps me. I too am now working, get this...in a mans world, couring truck parts. Differant from nursing....but still...I have to rise above them...lol
    Good job, good luck in your studies and you will be just fine......breathe deeply now.

    And rise to the top you shall. Very thoughtful, though-provoking, and insightful poem. Keep hanging in there. If you are having trouble with your studies and would like some help I would be willing. I have a degree in Biology and Chemistry. But mostly I have some good study techniques which I had to learn my second time around through college.
