Like a child with questioning eyes,
throw your fits and flying arms.
Grandma I love you still,
your favorite granddaughter
in youth of girl you seem to remember.
Yet the women before you
leaves you wondering
who was she? Lovely girl.
My father told me you don't recall,
your 8 boys and 2 girls.
Told him he was handsome then
asked if she should know you.
It's funny because you can't remember the
little things but me somehow you still do.
You took me within your arms
and claimed sugars from my ears and chin.
How my eye's would sparkle when
you made me your special cookies.
It's so sad now your back to the
status of a babe.
Mother, grandmother, and friend.
Perfect in her eye's, my mother
lost to death, grandmother lost
within the prison of her mind.
A life time of memories gone
in the wind and your questions of
why and who.
Author notes
I love you Grandma Lawton

Thank you.
Thank you for the picture of your grandmother. I feel it puts a face on the disease itself. This could be anyone's mother or grandmother. Your poem is poignant and I appreciate your entry. Thank you again. -
Lovely

"lost within the prison of her mind" is a very descriptive phrase to use in this subject. a very emotional personal piece, thank you for sharing this here. Well done.
