In his mind, fear ; The job ahead unsure
and thoughts of failure impossible to grasp
In is eyes, fear ; The sight ghastly to behold
Homes torn to ruin and a monster grows
In his movements, fear ; Trying to force the fire back
Barely staying in safety, feeling heat to his bones
In his heart, fear ; For all the victims he saves,
remorse for their loss, compassion for known strangers
It's not the lack of fear he holds inside
But his actions taken despite its call
That show us who the true heroes are

Merry meet,
Congratulations on winning the Bronze.
Wow!
I was just stunned by this poem. The use of the word "fear" was a great hammer to hit people's emotional buttons with. I think all most all of us fear fire but those who can overcome this fear and become firefighters are amazing individuals and deserving of respect that sometimes they really don't get. Personally, I would have rated this higher than third, but that is just the way this poem impacts me more than the other two.
Congratulations again on your win.

Honestly I don't know what it is like for a fire fighter. I don't think I could do what they do, they run in when everyone else is running out. ~ I like the different facets of fear you used in your write, followed with a strong conclusion. ~ Certainly gave an outlook few would think of ~
Thanks for entering in my contest,
Best of luck to you,
