As the leaves fall around your feet,
You realise your life’s not complete,
You think of times you once though dead,
But now they live on inside your head.
You bend down and touch the leaves,
You feel inside as your soul grieves,
Emotions take over your world,
You just watch as the tears unfurl.
The leaves a colour of red and brown,
Your once bright smile turns to a frown,
As your mind casts back to memories lost,
Over your soul is cast a frost.
You stand still, so very still,
Waiting for heartache to collects its bill,
Moments go by that seem like hours,
Deep in your heart sadness flowers.
A single tear trickles down your face,
You’ve lost something you can’t replace,
The pain subsides but never dies,
And your heart is forever filled with whys?

Periods aren't only for the end of your quatrains.
