May you be as my mother
In her traditional dress
Her eyes full of concern for me
And my well being
Praying
May all my days be fine
Wishing
Me to be neither a king nor a clown
But human
Healthy in body and mind
In peace may I be
Yet always striving
Not with others but myself
Not fighting shy but following
God in life
May I believe what I know
And know what I believe
Knowing accompanying deeds
Sharing and caring
And learning the truth
Not of reason nor of logic but of love
And gathering
The strength and readiness to live
In the end
Leaving
To you little mother
A world worth living
So may I come once more
To be your son.

I thank you for your entry into my contest, good luck, Josie

So meaningful for you to write of mothers and daughters and how the circle always comes back around, passing forward their love of their children. It speaks of rebirth, we need a world that is more loving, "a world worth living" Very beautiful, written with such insight into the heart of women.

Nicely done! Especially liked these lines:
"May I believe what I know
And know what I believe"
Although simple, they are well spoken and I like their truth.
Magnificent dedication. Any mother would be proud.
Thank you for entering. Best of luck in my contest.
Keep on writing,

Very profound and wonderful poem that really touches the soul. I think 'Thoughts-Of-Soloman' summed it up nicely.

AAWWWWW--this is so nice--Thanks for entering and GL in my contest

I read your words encompassed by a 'life cycle', offering up true meaning, in love and knowledge which go hand in hand. Also is seen, humility and awareness of discrimination regarding the difference of 'knowing about' and true understanding, which necessitates 'standing under'.
May we walk in it well

Yes, love is the real mover of and into great things.
A prayer for the best, in a particular way of awareness in a cycle of life. Born on the spring of the love for a particular daughter while also paying respectful gratitude towards the universal feminine qualities. Simple and good, Sol

I hear the voice of the native american wisdom here ... (I can't see your username, so, I am unable to verify yet) ... your verse has profound wisdom and speaks of love at the same time ... and of the cycle of reincarnation ... there is something very sacred I perceive in your words ... thank you so much for touching my heart ...

This was beautiful
A very lovely wish to bestow on someone special. A daughter is very special - well, my daughter is so very special to me. Have three smiley claps

-
Very well written. Profound and deeply thought provoking, which is always a wonderful read in my eyes...as for the person who says it has no poetic value due to lack of rhyme, should check up on poetry...for true poetry has many forms and is from the heart.
Lovely work of love and metaphor.
Best to you!
-

Great Heart Felt Story
I had a little trouble wrapping my brain around this one - It could be made into a beautiful poem - I'm a rhymer so to me this "poem" lacks poetic value - the content is great - keep on keeping on - Bless God - Joe - Merry Christmas
-
Interesting way of writing this, and the way you bring the past to the presenet to the future through these lines. Very fitting for this season -

May I believe what I know
And know what I believe .... very good lines. I think they may be profound.
