Her Creation

Missing image
She dreamt of perfect castles and flawless knights,
a world where she could surrender innocence,
and lie naked in complete acquiescent ecstasy.
Her scroll of desires was always stained,
melancholy ink spilled over her prayers,
Halloween endings cursed each fairy tale liaison
that her quill had written with the blood
flowing her throbbing veins of longing.

Smothering shadows she slept in sobs so often,
looking so hard for a candle to burn,
which could light her insides with a flame
instead of the icy pain from feeling
fate had cast her as amore's pariah.

One single hand reached into her closet,
a voice beguiling touched her scars,
taking her into his lair
where angel quickly turned to devil's henchman,
love nest becoming torture chamber.

Each wound came with words of affection
as if flagellation and passion where twins.
In her nudity where virginity lay in blood stains upon the sheets,
she kept desperately praying
submission would somehow bring happiness,
his heart, no matter how vile, she could purge
transforming his depravity into beauty.

Broken in spirit, bruised in body,
the illusion was shattered
when he brought another into the bed.

Leaving, feeling worse that before,
falling into an even deeper abyss.
Finding the occasional ghoul in her darkness
who she share another feast of brutality.

Deciding her Camelot fancy parchment of memories
was cursed to be penned as horror story,
choosing to keep on writing, deciding agony was less torture
than hell burnishing her soul
from a life lived without kisses, even if they felt like acid.

This is such a very expressive piece you have penned here. Descriptive detail woven into each line, creating such a sad tale of sorts. Thank you so much for your entry & best wishes in the contest!

Another great narrative Penman poem! Really impressed with the quality and quantity you get out of a single photo-inspiration. Good luck in the contest!
