Ever Slept with a Stranger?

Have you ever looked at yourself

And found a stranger instead?

Gazed into a mirror

And looked so different

Than your perception of self?

Have you ever laid in your bed

And wondered just where you left You behind

And who could this be

I've bartered my soul for?

I am a little iffy over extra spacing and the questionable effect [something not for me] but definitely not a biggie. You phrasing is nicely worded and this piece really comes together nicely.

Yes, this has happened to me, and I'm sure other people, many a time. Thank you for another thought-provoking entry in my contest, and good luck.

My first thought was no! I have never seen somebody else, while looking in the mirror, but then I remembered that I have been amazed about myself about the way how I handled certain things and that I said to myself: Hè, is that me? So, it is a very realistic question. Interesting poem. It makes you think!
    Very well done. Anna.

      Thanks again ANNA!

Literally, I have never been of the mind or custom to sleep with strangers--but I feel it a title that is a grabber and does relate in a sense to the question of misplacing our self identity. I have known of some, who actually went out of there was not to be themselves, just to disassociate themself from another. They traded Plastic for flesh, I like to say.
Sometimes we need to do a little self-examination and soul searching to be sure we are on track for being our self and our best. My wife likes this saying:"Be yourself, everyone is already taken!"

Thanks for your taking time to read and comment.

Interesting piece here. I am sure that this
has happened to many people. It can be a very
uncomfortable position to find yourself in.
Great work with this prompt and good luck
to you with it in the contest!

      Thank you Jeremy

I know I've been there and done that! And as you say, it has been a very awkward and uncomfortable position to deal with.
At least so far, I have not got total amnesia--and completely lost all trace of who am!
