Love's martyr deconstructed
as light fades and disappears
dormant within mourning
uncertainties haunt the surface
of even the sweetest dreams
polluted
I'm captive to visions of ever after
When love was more than slow crucifixion
Hide my lacking face from dawn
behind truth's words once told
out of reach to surrender
when 'I love you' meant always
and strength we owned as one
lived unconquered
Author notes
a. "Love's not all lost
But it's nailed to my cross
And crucified all that I've held on
To be awaiting
Anticipating a touch such as yours"

A very in depth take on the prompt here. Very sad indeed, at the end of innocence in retrospect, ever fumbling through the layers of love undone. Thank you for your entry!
