Rocking my baby down to sleep,
Singing a lullaby star light,
Start bright; my baby boy,
You’re all I got,
Some how that part
Creeps into your song,
Making it a new one.
As you lay him down in the crib
Daddy and you built,
That one hot august night,
Tears begin to fall,
Pitter pat to the ground.
Daddy dearest left you,
Without any clues,
So in love and now alone,
Leaving you with child,
What now to do.
Move on; hold your head high,
Momma has to be strong
For my son and I.
Gathering the peaces left
On the ground,
The left over toys,
The empty joys that used to
Live there that still linger.
Standing over,
looking down in my sons crib,
Now isn’t that peaceful,
I don’t know how
A man can leave this behind,
Momma picks up her tears,
Smiles and whispers,
It’s now just you and I.
I can’t promise you I will
Be any good alone my dear,
God knows I am not perfect,
My son, I love you, I will always
Be here, it’s just us two,
I am ok though because
I have you.
Daddy’s gone now,
Mommy is ok, but
In time I will be better,
A lot stronger instead of
Heart broken and hurting
inside,
later i will be better then
ok, later you will see.
better.
silence came over you,
standing over the crib side,
silence grew as your thoughts
screams, deep down unglued.

that's heart-breaking
beautiful descriptive piece - reads like stream of consciousness, going round and round, will be better, left alone, strong for son, ..... I like that. also really relate to the last lines:
silence came over you,
standing over the crib side,
silence grew as your thoughts
screams, deep down ungluedeven when you are go unhappy and not coping, as a mother, you always have to put on the brave calm face even though you are silently screaming inside!
Yep, aint that the truth.
