Always In My Heart

Dad you'll always rest in my heart,
Even through we're heavens apart,
You're with the angels up in the sky,
I can't bring myself to bid you goodbye.

Your laughter and your love,
Wrap around like a hand and glove,
There's so many things that I will miss,
The way you smiled, your fatherly kiss.

Your smile could light the darkest of rooms,
Your heart and soul were in full bloom,
I never thought this day would come,
No my life is it holds no fun.

I can feel you still holding my hand,
I will walk with you across the furthest of lands,
Sorrow cascades over my soul,
No words that are spoken can ever console.

The heartache of losing a dad like you,
Makes me feel empty and makes me feel blue,
I can't believe I will never see you again,
I can feel my world collapsing from all this pain.

You meant the world to me and more,
Your passing has rocked me to my core,
I just want to wake up from this nightmare,
I'm not willing to accept that you'll never be there.

It's hard to read something like this when I never really had this kind of father. Never felt this way about my dad. It's so sad to read this and never know what that felt like. Great read. In line 12 you might want to revise it because it doesn't make much sense and I can not figure out what you were trying to say. Thank you for entering my contest, and my your dad rest in peace.

    Great

WOW. My dad was killed when i was 16, and he was the person who meant the most to me in the whole world. It was one of the hardest things I've had to deal with in life. Your poem really hit a note with me, and i felt quite emotional after reading it. great write xx
