paved a maze
I wandered through it
crushed, confused and dazed
you didn't follow
I was alienated, alone and lost
too weakened to have known
what my love for you had cost
the bruises tell a story for all to see

Sometimes it takes a while for us to recognize the fact that a relationship is abusive. Other times, we realize early on, and sit in denial until one day that moment of clarity happen,s and we demand a better way. There is never an acceptable reason to be abused. An excellent take on the prompt poet. Thank you for this entry and I wish you the best.
