Shangri-La On Earth

The lake,
cool and inviting
a mirror image
to the one underneath it.

Snow capped mountains
reaching up to the sky
in search of Heaven
and its golden gate.

Is this paradise?
The fated Shangri-La
of stories told.
Does this mythical world exist?

Only God knows
but for now
this is paradise.
It is Shangri-La.

I do not think a Tibetan Utopia

exists but we can find beautiful places. Where I live with my wife is such an one. Your images are stock ones yet pleasing all the same. Paradise enough is often a simple thing! Ron

From the title and concluding stanza, you seem satisfied that you have found a mountainous paradise with a lake!
Stanza 3 brings up questions, yet doesn't explain what criteria you used to decide this spot was a particular fabled site. The lake, inviting a mirror image to the one underneath it (a second lake?), sounds quite unusual, indeed!

Your verses evoke a lovely mountain scene, and it is a pretty meditation.

    wonderful imagery...

I like the way you link your poem to the image...especially the lines about the reflections. It is a very happy message and full of optimism.

I like the free verse and the way you have broken it into stanzas to aid the meaning.

The poem leaves me with a question and food for thought.

Very descriptive especially the first stanza. It makes me wish I'd seen the picture.

Think this is a great way to interpret this picture - so calm and serene, certainly like a Shangri-La. Liked the flow and the thoughts you convey in these lines. Neat idea for a new weekly contest.
