Peaceful Ocean

Missing image

The Pacific Ocean is my home,

where sea spray chills the bone;

sparkling waves dazzle the eye,

as fishing nets are raised with pride.

.

Seagulls hover in their flight,

as red sunsets vanish from sight;

and biodiversity reveres the tide,

of its majesty  the sea cannot hide.

.

Lively sea craft sail the wind,

and I feel time will never end;

as ancient, foaming brine rolls to shore,

my soul is nourished forevermore.

.

As sea breezes clear my head,

its surf gently lulls me in bed;

my love, my passion, and my devotion,

is for my beloved peaceful ocean.

.

Author notes

The Pacific Ocean is from the Latin name Oceanus Pacificus, "peaceful sea", bestowed upon it by
the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan, and is the largest of the Earth's oceans (Wikipedia).

    I love this! I too love the Ocean. It is on the beach at White Rock, B.C. that we frolicked in the pacific ocean on summer holidays! I find the ocean to be awe inspiring! Nice imagery in your poem, I could feel myself there. ***Pam***

    I love this

    Hello Rose of Ireland,

    I love this, so simply written with 4 line verses and aabb rhyming apart from your final two lines which is so fitting an ending to the pictures you have shared with your readers. and it is so beautiful. Red sunsets, seagulls hovering, waves sparkling....Ahhhh fantastic! What a wonderful place to live!

    Your imagery is gorgeous. You don't need metaphorical language to describe your home for it has its own natural beauty. I could almost feel that wind blowing through my hair and the wetness of spray flying up as your sea craft cuts through the water.

    What a pleasure to read this so thank you for the opportunity.
