Has it hit you yet?
That death is the one thing
Coming out of all this?
That love is the last thing
On your mind in all this?
--
I watched the news today
I found out my dad has died
They say I'm too young to understand
All I know is that I'm without a dad
The man who was always there for me
Who held me when I was afraid
Now I'm afraid and he's not here
And he's not going to come home
--
I watched the news today
I found out my husband has died
They say we rushed into things
All I know is that I lost the man I love
The man who I confessed to like a priest
Who held me when I was down
Now I'm down and he's not here
And he's not going to come home
--
I got a knock on the door today
I found out my girlfriend has died
They say I'll get over it eventually
All I know is that I lost my future wife
The woman who I was about to propose to
Who made me cry tears of happiness
Now I'm crying tears of another kind
And she's not going to come home
--
I saw it in the street today
I found out my son has died
He was just a child, so innocent
All I know is that he didn't deserve to die
The boy who I took care of alone
Who helped me every time I fell down
Now I've fallen deeper than ever
And he's not going to walk home
--
Has it hit you yet?
We're not the only ones suffering
That death is the worst thing
And no one will ever forget
Author notes
I don't know if I made it too obvious (I guess so) but yeah, hope it's not too bad for you

"And he's not going to come home" I love that.. so simple but effective.
no it's not too obvious. I meant saying
"I am sad, this is my sad poem. I'm writing because I'm angry and because I'm sad"
kinda thing.
thanks for entering
