Dear fragile thing
I hold within my palm
a small piece of life
tattered and torn.
Your edges are shredded
your stem long gone now
so long from your home
a barren branched palace.
I find you crumpled
underfoot and covered in mud.
Yet I can't help but...
pick you up gently.
For such a mangled little leaf,
you are a delicate work of art.
Golden, as rich as metal
and as bright as the sun.
Not even the blackest muck,
can mar such an exquisite exterior.
Little magnificent leaf of autumn
veins colored of molten gold.

Aww, now this is persisley what I was hopeing for in a poem. This is descriptive with beautiful imagery, and you stress how it IS ugly, and yet IS beautiful. The molten gold line really stuck out to me, it is beautiful. thank you for this wonderful painting to add to my collection.
