Swollen eyes of a left-lover
leaning into her pillow
so sound is smothered
twisting Egyptian cotton
into arms and tucking them tight
around her, so she does not fall
off padded edges of this cell
to land, bone-cracking on cold floor
of reality
here it is, she can curl
when life has flung her
arms out and treading air
she can no longer bear
kiss of feathered nest
is the softest place to fall

ty, my 90 yr old mother just crawled up over the rails of her bed to go find her husband who died many years ago. I appreciate the silver.
