There are those that catch the sun,
reflect it back to where it’s come;
others who take it hold it tight,
so they glow to all who come in sight.
There are those whose spirit catches hold
and makes the light in others bold.
No matter how much sorrow’s toss and crash,
they have the strength to come through at last.
Vibrant and strong, their inner Light shines
about them day and night. Without reason or rhyme
they are touched by the divine. Touch
us all to make us more. We follow their torch
as it shows its path through joy and tears, until,
at last, we know the safety of their shores. Feel the will
that makes them more. I have come to know her well
we’ve shown each other our magic spells.
On this, her birthday, I share my poetic thrill
wish her happiness, joy and may her grace
always enchant us and leave a smile upon her face.

This was lovely.
Made me think. My son's birthday was on the 22 of Jan. and I never wrote him a poem. The first year I never. But I did call him. But this makes me feel guilty for not writing him one. Anyways;
Thank you for the read again today.

Tom,
I truly think I am about to short out my keyboard. The tears are streaming down my face. It was my greatest pleasure to meet you and your wife this Summer. You my dear friend are bigger than life. You are almost overwhelming in stature, and presence. You speak of light...yours glows like an eternal flame. You have graced me with words that lift me to heights unimaginable. You are truly a blessing and a fortress to my spirit. This poem shall be my rock. I oh so wish I knew the brightness of the light you speak of sometimes. There are points that my flame burns low but with brother/friends like you, and sister/friends like your lovely wife my flame will never burn out. I know that light to be the God-Light and He makes sure that He uses people who have also been in the dark to make the shine ever greater.
Thank you ever so much dear man for this work of word-art. You know I love your poetry and you. But to read a poem so eloquently written about me is truly a humbling experience, and written by one of my most revered poet's. I shake my head at the kinship knowing that it too will last as long as our flames.
Again, THANK YOU from the core of my existence! I wish you well in this challenge.
♥ Always ♥
Renee

Lovely sentiments for a woman whose roar is louder than some people think, she has the poetic voice that reaches far into your soul and exposes it. Love, C

I met her once. She is more vibrant and alive than any picture can show. She and my wife got along wonderfully. I met her husband Raymond as well and he has a quiet about him that is long and deep. Thanks for enjoying this poem. Love, Tom B.
